Teachers have impressed me since my childhood and have been my demi gods. ‘Tintin’- the journalist impressed me and still does (thundering typhoons- the Hergé Museum Louvain-la-Neuve, south of Brussels a must visit for Tintinologists). Movies impressed me -and still do.

Had the opportunity to dabble with two passions- taught at NLS Bangalore in 1990-92 and again in 1998-2001 and with NALSAR (2001-) The ‘Tintin’ passion led me to dabble in Journalism (circa 1992-1998). A shot at Movie still eludes and a little more life is left to crack at it.

Coming back to NALSAR – still the best moments are that of the first year classes- sheer innocence and idealism- not opinionated and attentive- (the way I was in my first year!) Now I am more confined to LL.M -a sober and attentive audience.

Took a Break in 2009 to work as the first Dean of the Rajiv Gandhi School of IP at IIT Kharagpur- a memorable experience trying to integrate a transplanted discipline within the system of IIT - earned great colleagues and students.

International exposure as elected member of ALAC-ICANN, Indian delegate to WIPO meets has given the insights of the ‘global politics’ of IP and Internet. Life is one hell of a narrative- with the central theme of ‘Just and Unjust’- Paradoxically -Law serves as an instrument for both sides of the protagonists.

The line which has stuck with me and say it aloud in the shower everyday is “ It is show time folks” of Roy Scheider in the 1979 classic- All that Jazz
