Asish Kumar Panda

Assistant Professor of Management

Dr. Asish Kumar Panda is a distinguished academic and seasoned corporate leader whose career serves as a unique bridge between high-stakes international business and deep strategic inquiry. Currently serving as a faculty member at the Department of Management Studies, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, Dr. Panda brings a rare “scholar-practitioner” perspective to the classroom, grounded in over 25 years of diverse industry experience and a rigourous doctoral foundation.

Prior to his transition into academia in 2013, Dr. Panda spent over two and a half decades at the helm of various organizations, including a decade in Tier-1 leadership roles such as Director, Managing Director, and CEO. His industrial footprint is truly global; he spent ten years working with the Bergen, Norway-based firm Norsk Brannconsult AS, and has lived and worked extensively across the USA, UK, Norway, and various European nations.

This international tenure has made him a specialist in the mechanics of global expansion. Dr. Panda is recognized as a key architect for establishing businesses from the “conception stage” to successful steady-state operations. His expertise encompasses International Joint Ventures, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and negotiating complex foreign currency loans with international funding agencies. His ability to navigate the disparate cultural and business practices of India, Europe, and America has earned him a reputation for high-level credibility and trust among a global clientele.

Beyond the private sector, Dr. Panda has been a pivotal figure in public sector transformation. He has spearheaded reforms in various government sectors, focusing on Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), HR restructuring, automation, and facility management.

His commitment to Indian heritage and rural development is equally profound. Dr. Panda has travelled extensively into the rural heartlands of India to facilitate new product development and has been a key associate for the State Government in the international marketing of Odisha handicrafts. This blend of high-level consulting and grassroots engagement defines his holistic approach to economic development.

In 2018, Dr. Panda earned his Doctorate from the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). His research represents a visionary departure from traditional “growth-at-all-costs” models, focusing instead on firm size and sustainability through the lens of de-growth and deep ecology. This academic specialization allows him to challenge conventional management paradigms, offering his students at NALSAR a critical understanding of how businesses can thrive while respecting ecological boundaries.

Since 2013, Dr. Panda has been a dedicated educator at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At NALSAR, he specializes in Strategy and Operations, where his teaching style is characterized by a team-oriented, collaborative approach. He leverages his vast experience in manufacturing, business development, and general management to provide students with real-world case studies that transcend textbook theory.

Dr. Asish Kumar Panda remains a vital voice in the management landscape—a leader who has not only navigated the complexities of global markets but is now dedicated to shaping the next generation of ethical, strategically-minded leaders
