Dr. Chandrima Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor of Economics at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, with extensive experience in teaching across Managerial Economics, Law and Economics, Public Policy, Development Economics, and Sustainability.

She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, where her doctoral research focused on healthcare utilisation, costing, and financing among the elderly in India. Her academic qualifications also include an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Kalyani and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta.

Dr. Chatterjee’s research spans a wide range of issues in socio-economic development, sustainable development, cost analysis, population ageing, and the impact assessment of public policy.

She currently serves as the Principal Investigator of a collaborative research project funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) titled “Exploring the Impact of Jal Jeevan Mission on Rural Women’s Wellbeing in Telangana: A Social, Economic and Health Perspective.” The project involves extensive fieldwork and empirical analysis to assess how access to safe drinking water affects women’s lives in rural India.

In addition to her research contributions, Dr Chatterjee has developed digital learning content for national platforms. She is involved in creating MOOC-based video lectures for CLAT aspirants under the SATHEE (Self-Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams) portal—a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education and IIT Kanpur. Her content focuses on the Quantitative Techniques section and is designed to make quality preparatory resources accessible to students across the country.

Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Indian Journal of Public Health, International Journal of Social Economics, Journal of Public Affairs, and The International Journal of Health Planning and Management.

Her scholarly work addresses critical topics such as health insurance penetration among the elderly, gender disparities in healthcare spending, and hygiene and sanitation policy analysis. Dr. Chatterjee has presented papers at international conferences in USA and Japan and has actively participated in several national and UGC-sponsored seminars. Technically proficient with data analysis tools such as Stata and SPSS, she brings strong methodological skills to both quantitative research and primary data collection.

She is a recipient of multiple academic honors including UGC-NET, SET, Research Fellowship and international travel grants. Her work reflects a deep commitment to socially impactful research and inclusive, policy-relevant education.
