Roles and Responsibilities:
The Committee derives its mandate from the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act, 2013 and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act, 2013 and the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations 2015. The Committee thus, discharges the mandated obligation of conducting time-bound investigation in a confidential manner and submits inquiry report to the Vice-Chancellor. The Committee also conducts awareness-raising on issues of sexual harassment and organise gender-sensitisation programmes.
The IC is supported by a student committee in its awareness raising and sensitization programme. Thus, the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) works alongside the IC as a student support and outreach body within this larger institutional framework. Through sensitisation programmes, open conversations, and continuous engagement, the IC and CASH strive to build a culture where respect is the norm, voices can be raised without fear, and everyone can feel a sense of belonging. In addition to conducting orientation sessions for the stakeholders on campus, during the last one year, the IC and CASH organised a talk by Advocate Vasudha Nagaraj on the topic of ‘Intimate Partner Violence’ and a special theatrical performance ‘Girls just wanna have friends!’ performed by Nupur Azadi and her team that brought together real stories from real women about their female friendships—the good, the bad, and the unexpected.
Committee Against Sexual Harassment
The Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) Volunteer Group functions as a student support and sensitisation body committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment. The primary objective of CASH is to serve as a confidential point of contact for individuals who may experience or witness incidents of sexual harassment, while also promoting awareness and gender sensitivity within the University community.
CASH operates in a supportive capacity. Volunteers provide guidance to aggrieved persons regarding available mechanisms for redressal and may assist them in approaching the Internal Committee (IC), subject to the informed consent of the individual concerned. The group maintains strict confidentiality in all interactions.
In addition to providing peer support, CASH actively contributes to preventive efforts by organising sensitisation initiatives, awareness programmes and public engagement activities aimed at strengthening gender justice on campus. The volunteers are selected by the ICC and serve until the constitution of a new volunteer body or until otherwise determined by the Committee.
