Roles and Responsibilities
- Admission to Ph.D. Programme
To oversee and approve the process of admission to the Ph.D. programme, including scrutiny of applications, conduct of entrance examinations/interviews, and final selection of candidates. - Coursework Oversight
To prescribe, review, and monitor the Ph.D. coursework requirements, including evaluation standards and successful completion as a prerequisite for registration. - Approval of Research Proposals
To evaluate and approve the research proposals/synopsis submitted by Ph.D. scholars, including the constitution of Research Advisory Committees (RACs), where applicable. - Monitoring of Research Progress
To periodically review the progress of Ph.D. scholars on the basis of reports and presentations, and to ensure timely completion of research in accordance with prescribed norms. - Supervisor Allocation and Regulation
To approve the allocation of research supervisors/co-supervisors and regulate matters relating to supervision, including changes, workload, and compliance with prescribed guidelines. - Pre-Submission Review
To examine and approve the submission of Ph.D. theses, including the conduct of pre-submission seminars and evaluation of readiness for submission. - Evaluation and Examination Process
To recommend examiners, oversee the thesis evaluation process, and ensure the conduct of viva voce examinations in accordance with University regulations. - Ensuring Academic Integrity and Ethics
To ensure compliance with standards of academic integrity, including plagiarism checks, ethical clearances, and adherence to research ethics guidelines. - Regulatory Compliance
To ensure that the Ph.D. programme is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including UGC Regulations and University ordinances.
