Professor Aruna B Venkat is Professor of Law at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. She joined NALSAR faculty in January 2005. Previously, she was at Amity Law School, New Delhi, as a Lecturer.

She has been a student of Delhi University. She completed her B.A (Hons.) in Sociology at Miranda House and her Master’s in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics. She went on to pursue law and finally completed her Ph.D from the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.

Professor Venkat began her career as a Legal Editor at Butterworths India from January 1997 to November 1999. Among the many books she edited, the most memorable and rewarding editorial experience was editing Prof. S.P. Sathe’s Administrative Law.

Two years later, she got her first academic break at Amity Law School, New Delhi. In 2005, she joined NALSAR. Her Sociology background has helped her develop courses that are interdisciplinary in both content and context.

Socio-legal issues are at the centre of her courses. Her interdisciplinary orientation also draws her towards multi-disciplinary conferences and seminars. Some of the courses that she teaches are Law of Torts, Family Law, Conflict of Laws, and Child Rights.
