Ishita Das

Assistant Professor of Law

Dr. Ishita Das currently works as an Assistant Professor of Law (tenured) at the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. She completed her Ph.D titled ‘Commercialisation of Space and Cyber Security: Need for a New International Legal Framework’, in which she examined the interface between International Space Law and Cyber Law.

Dr. Das teaches a wide range of courses, including electives and seminars such as International Space Law and the Cosmic Code, AI and Human Rights Laws, and International Trade Law and Global Economic Governance.

As regards mandatory courses, she teaches civil practice courses, including the CPC & the Law of Limitation, as well as the Drafting, Pleadings and Conveyancing Clinic, among others.

She has published widely in reputed international and national journals, including several SCOPUS-indexed journals. Before joining NALSAR, she served as an Assistant Professor with the Amity Law School, Noida, and the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. She taught Environmental Law and Cyber Law, respectively, as mandatory courses during her tenure there.

Dr. Das completed her B.B.A. (Hons.) and LL.B. (Hons.), specialising in Business Law, from National Law University, Jodhpur, and was placed in the Top 15% of her class. After completing her undergraduate training, she worked in Delhi for two years, including pursuing consultancy roles with the National Commission for Women and the Central Information Commission.

She then pursued an LL.M. from The National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, graduating at the top of her class (Gold Medallist) and earning 5 gold medals for academic excellence.

Dr. Das is deeply fascinated by areas including International Space Law, Cyber Law, International Trade Law, and International Environmental Law.

Apart from publishing widely in these areas, she has presented research papers at prestigious international conferences, including the International Astronautical Congress (2020, held online due to COVID-19), the Law & Development Conference at the National University of Singapore (2023), and the Global Space Exploration Conference, held in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in Delhi (2025).

She enjoys writing short stories, drawing and sketching, and playing basketball in her free time.
