Dr Rajesh Kapoor is an Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Commercial Laws and Dispute Resolution at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
Dr Kapoor completed his LL.B. from Symbiosis Law School, Pune. He went on to complete his LL.M. in International Arbitration at King’s College, University of London, under the supervision of Prof. Martin Hunter, the famed author of the classic Redfern and Hunter on the Law and Practice of International Arbitration. Following his postgraduate studies, he joined NALSAR as a faculty member.
He earned his Ph.D. in International Commercial Arbitration from NALSAR University, under the joint supervision of Dr PS Rao, former Chairman of the International Law Commission and Ad Hoc Judge at the International Court of Justice, and Mr Gary Born, widely regarded as the world’s preeminent authority on international arbitration and Chair of International Arbitration at WilmerHale, London.
Dr Kapoor’s academic and research interests include International Arbitration, Commercial Law, and Constitutional Law. He serves as the Revising Author of India’s leading textbook on Contract Law, Avtar Singh’s Contract and Specific Relief Act (13th Edition), and has made significant contributions to the revision of the 11th and 12th editions of V. N. Shukla’s Constitution of India.
At NALSAR, he also serves as the Head of Examinations and Library, overseeing and directing the management and coordination of all university examination processes and library operations. In this role, he makes sure exams are fair, well-organized, and transparent, while also leading improvements in library services to better support teaching, learning, and research.
Furthermore, he has launched and coordinated advanced diploma programs via Open & Distance Learning (ODL) at the Directorate of Proximate Education, NALSAR, specialising in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Contract Drafting, Negotiation & Enforcement, and Family Dispute Resolution.
