Mission and Objectives

The DPIIT IPR Chair at NALSAR is committed to fostering a deeper understanding of intellectual property law and its role in innovation, development, and public interest. The Chair undertakes a range of academic and outreach activities, including:

Teaching:

The Chair supports and develops specialised courses, lectures, and training programmes in intellectual property law for students, researchers, professionals, and government officials, to build strong academic foundations and practical expertise in the field.

Research:

It promotes interdisciplinary and policy-oriented research on both foundational and emerging areas of intellectual property law, including technology law, access to knowledge, innovation policy, traditional knowledge, public health, and international intellectual property frameworks.

Dissemination and Outreach:

The Chair engages in seminars, workshops, conferences, public lectures, and publications to encourage informed discussion and wider awareness of intellectual property issues among academia, industry, policymakers, and civil society.

Capacity Building:

The Chair contributes to capacity building by organising training programmes, developing research resources, and supporting scholars and stakeholders working in intellectual property. The objective is to promote a balanced and effective intellectual property system that encourages innovation while safeguarding public interest.
