In Rajasthan, every guest is family, every gathering an occasion, and every meal a celebration. From the sweeping sands of the Thar Desert to the lively lawns of NALSAR, this spirit journeys with its people, finding new expression on campus each year. The Rajasthani Fest captures this essence, weaving together colours, flavours, and rhythms into two unforgettable days of tradition and togetherness. Organised by one of the largest and most close-knit student communities at NALSAR, the fest is a cherished legacy—its beginnings lost to time, yet its presence steadfast—returning year after year as a defining feature of campus life.

The celebrations begin with the pre-fest evening, alive with the playful charm of Rajasthan. Traditional games like sitolia and patangbaazi spark laughter and friendly competition, while cool, refreshing drinks—ranging from tangy aam panna and spiced jaljeera to classic shikanji and rose sharbat—offer respite from the day. Paired with beloved snacks like crisp kachoris and golden samosas, the evening creates an atmosphere of warmth, nostalgia, and easy camaraderie.

The second day unfolds as the grand celebration. The stage pulses with energy as each batch takes to the floor, presenting spirited dance performances choreographed to timeless Rajasthani folk melodies. At the heart of the festivities lies the much-awaited community dinner, lovingly hosted by the Rajasthani students for the entire campus. The menu is a tribute to the richness of desert cuisine, featuring iconic dishes such as daal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker sangri, and papad ki sabzi—each carrying stories of tradition, resilience, and flavour.

As the night deepens, the celebrations transition into a vibrant DJ Night, where folk rhythms merge with contemporary beats. In that shared space of music and movement, the entire campus comes together—celebrating not just a culture, but a spirit of unity, belonging, and joy that lingers long after the final note fades.

And of course, no Rajasthani Fest is complete without the annual Ghoomar, gracefully reminding everyone that some traditions are simply non-negotiable.

The food at the Rajasthani Fest is nothing short of legendary. Every year, the highlight is the grand serving of dal, baati, and churma, drenched unapologetically in excessive ghee. Plates keep filling, hands keep reaching, and diets are conveniently forgotten for the night. Beyond this iconic trio, an indulgent spread of authentic Rajasthani flavours transforms the evening into a feast of abundance. What begins as a meal soon turns into a full-blown celebration of taste—one that leaves the entire campus deliciously overwhelmed, joyfully indulgent, and utterly satisfied.
