West-Fest is NALSAR’s annual celebration of the cultures of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa. Launched in 2019 as Dandiya and Garba Night, the fest expanded to bring the vibrancy of western India to campus in distinctive ways. At its heart is a garba mandap, a canopy set up for students to come together to experience the joy of Navratri’s dance. The academic block transforms into a food hub, serving regional favourites like puran poli, fafda-jalebi, misal pav, dahi vada, and pav bhaji. A specially curated Heritage Walk introduces students to the monuments, histories, and cultures of the three states. West-Fest creates a shared space of celebration, inclusivity, and cultural immersion unique to NALSAR

Dance Stage Performance

West Fest unfolds over two lively days filled with rhythm and celebration. Day one is all about collective joy, as the entire campus gathers to spin, clap, and lose track of time doing Garba. Day two shifts the spotlight to cultural performances, where West Fest members from every batch take the stage. From traditional folk songs to energetic regional dances, each performance reflects the spirit of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa, turning the stage into a cultural rollercoaster.

Food

Food at West Fest is a full-on western India feast. Plates are loaded with spicy misal pav, buttery pav bhaji, flavour-packed keema pav, soft and sweet khaman, pjatra, and much more. Every stall feels like a street corner straight out of Mumbai, Ahmedabad, or Goa. Between dancing and performances, people keep coming back for “just one more bite,” proving once again that West Fest is as much about food indulgence as it is about celebration.

Decor

Decor

The decor at West Fest is a vibrant tribute to the cultures of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa. Colourful backdrops, traditional symbols, festive lights, and regional elements transform the campus into a western cultural mosaic. Every corner reflects Navratri vibes and regional pride, making the space feel like a festive street festival rather than a university campus. It is loud, lively, and perfectly Instagram-worthy.
