Mental Health Group

The Mental Health Group (MHG) is a student-led initiative committed to fostering a supportive and responsive mental health environment on campus. Rather than functioning as a direct service provider, MHG plays a facilitative role—we work to strengthen access to existing support systems, promote awareness of mental health resources, and advocate for greater accountability within institutional structures.

At present, MHG is leading the development of a comprehensive university mental health policy, grounded in extensive feedback from the student community. This initiative aims to institutionalize a more inclusive, accessible, and student-responsive mental health framework, ensuring that support systems are not only available but also effective, equitable, and aligned with the diverse needs of the campus population.

In addition to its policy work, MHG undertakes several key initiatives to strengthen mental health support on campus.

  • Facilitating mental health services by by coordinating with external platforms such as PRAAN and MindPeers, and ensuring that students are both informed about and able to effectively utilize available resources.
  • Acting as a liaison between students and service providers by channeling feedback and addressing concerns related to accessibility, such as therapist availability. Through ongoing engagement with these platforms, the group works to enhance service delivery and promote greater accountability.
  • Conducting awareness initiatives, including student orientations and mental health sessions—often in collaboration with partner organizations. These efforts aim to cultivate a more informed, empathetic, and supportive campus environment. For more information contact mhpg@nalsar.ac.in
