In addition to the above outlined programs NALSAR also offers a range of distance education courses in emerging fields of contemporary relevance.
These courses are comprehensive and multidimensional, where the focus is on imparting highly customized legal education to the working professionals depending upon the demands of their specific professions. Such customization is incorporated not only in the substantive course contents but also in the teaching methodologies. The various PG Degree and Diploma courses offered by NALSAR are, therefore, a blend of on-site and online sessions spread across 2-4 semesters. Each semester generally has an on-site intense session conducted by the subject experts, followed by a series of online sessions where participants work on case studies/assignments, uploading the same on dedicated web portal. As a part of e-learning, candidates can also have access to the concerned subject experts. Enrolled candidates can take their exams at designated centres and are supported by regular updates of course materials both in print and online.
These courses are conducted broadly under two dedicated wings of the University- NALSAR Pro, which is the distance education branch of NALSAR, and the Centre for Air & Space Law (CASL), which studies and contributes towards the legal development in the emerging sectors of aviation and space. Both of these branches strive for a multidimensional learning experience by conducting teaching, research, conferences, workshops etc. In this context, NALSAR Pro offers PG Diploma courses in Patents Law, Cyber Laws, Media Laws and International Humanitarian Laws using web technology and direct contact programmes at various centres in India.
Similarly, CASL has introduced innovative courses in Aviation, Space, Telecommunications, GIS and Remote Sensing. Its objective is to cater to the unprecedented growth and commercialization of the Aviation, Space and Telecom sectors. CASL’s initiative aims to institutionalize an academy-industry partnership in these sectors- a first of its kind, not just in India but perhaps in the entire Asia-Pacific Region. It offers the following four courses: Master’s Degree in Aviation Law and Air Transport Management (MALATM); Master’s Degree in Space and Telecommunication Laws (MSTL); PG Diploma in Aviation Law and Air Transport Management (PGDALATM); PG Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing Laws (PGDGRL).
NALSAR’s initiative in distance education also endeavours to promote quality research in contemporary legal sectors. These courses are, therefore, not just value-added qualifications to help the aspirants gain upward mobility in employment. The objective rather is to equally institutionalize an academy-industry partnership. Apart from catering individual aspirations, boosting career profiles and enhancing competitive edge, such initiative reaps equal rewards at institutional level. It thus provides, to all the stakeholders, a comprehensive legal understanding of the industry along with the necessary practical exposure.
