NALSAR UNIVERSITY OF LAW

Accredited in 'A+' grade with a score 3.60 on a four point scale by NAAC

Pinaki Nandan Pattnaik

He started his career as an academician in 2005 at the Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology (NCAAT after completing his MBA from the Edwards School of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. His stint at Canada opened a whole new dimension of ‘teaching and learning’ that he adopted and adapted to hone his own teaching-learning model. While at NCAAT, he rendered advise to several pre-business initiatives which later translated into successful ventures.

India as a country, as a philosophy and as a hope has always fascinated him and that fascination brought him back to India. He joined KIIT University, Bhubaneswar in 2007 as an Assistant Professor and was deputed to their Law School. This was again a challenge as neither his previous education nor his experience had equipped him to work at a law school. His knowledge of law was restricted to some rudimentary knowledge of civics and some fundamental business law. He undertook the opportunity to learn. In addition to teaching business courses, he was also given the responsibility of being the Head of the Management Department where he experimented with many new teaching-learning techniques along with curricula design, evaluation schematics development etc.

In 2009 he joined the National Law University, Odisha (NLUO) as the Head of the Department of their School of Managerial Excellence. He admits that it’s at NLUO where he learnt that life is not about compartmentalized thought but an open frame and clarity which requires permutation and combination of knowledge drawn from all corners. He also functioned as Registrar at NLUO for a brief period.

In 2013 he joined NALSAR as an Associate Professor at the newly established Centre for Management Studies (CMS). This time around, he experimented with teaching-learning techniques: such as ideation labs’, increased number of internships which would assist our graduates when they join the industry, set up an incubation center etc.

He loves rock music, the occasional movie, travelling, driving and spending time with his family.

MBA (International Business)( University of Saskatchewan, Canada); MBA (Marketing and Communication) (Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands ); Ph.D (National Law University, Odisha)

His research interests lie in the field of Academic entrepreneurship and university spinoffs and foster the spirit of cross-disciplinary inquiry. He has published two books and several research articles in peer reviewed national as well as journals indexed by scopus as well as ABDC.
