On the 13th of March, 2017, NALSAR University of Law hosted Justice K. Kannan - Former Judge of High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh and High Court of Madras and the present Chairman of the Railway Claims Tribunal at its Principal Bench at New Delhi. Justice Kannan, at the invitation of Nyaya Forum for Courtroom Lawyering delivered a talk on his career in the judiciary titled ‘Judging: A Spiritual Journey’ to a gathering of students and professors at the MK Nambyar SAARCLaw Centre. 

'Constitutionalism and Identity' Q/A| Prof. Upendra Baxi' | Nalsar University

Prof. Baxi is currently a Professor of Law at the University of Warwick. He is noted for his pedagogic and research contribution, and is known the world over for his work in areas like discourse on the third world and International law, sociological studies of human rights theory and practice, comparative constitutionalism, human rights responsibility in corporate governance and business conduct, and critical studies of globalisation of law. He has contributed significantly to the renovation of legal teaching and research in South Asia and policy-making in India.

Justice (Retd.) Ruma Pal | 'Uniform Civil Code' Q & A | Constitutionalism | Nalsar University

As part of the Lecture Series on Constitutionalism, Nalsar University of Law has hosted Justice (Retd.) Ruma Pal for a talk on September 8, 2016 (Thursday). The discussion was centered on Article 44 of the Constitution which contemplates the creation of a Uniform Civil Code. The talk was scheduled during the 11:30 AM - 1 PM slot at the SAARCLAW Centre.

Brexit - the Legal Dimensions

We had Dr. Venkat Iyer (Senior Lecturer in Law, Ulster University, Northern Ireland) who spoke  on 'Brexit - the Legal Dimensions'

This talk explains  the background to the recent decision of the British people to take the United Kingdom out of the European Union, and outline the legal implications of that decision.  It will, among other things, describe the landmark case decided by the UK Supreme Court in January 2017 in which a majority of judges insisted on parliamentary approval for the government's decision to trigger the Brexit process.
